And its romantic architecture with colonial homes and neoclassical baroque churches, combine to make it the jewel of Nicaragua.

Day 1

  • Pick up at hotel in Papagayo or Tamarindo area.
  • Transfer to Nicaragua
  • Hike to the top of the Mombacho volcano through the cloud forest
    to observe some of the most imposing views of
    Lake Nicaragua and Granada.
  • Lunch at El Zaguan Restaurant
  • Sightseeing and walking city tour in the old Granada City founded in 1524
  • Dinner on your own
  • Overnight at Alhambra Hotel in Granada

Day 2

  • Breakfast at the Alhambra hotel
  • Boat tour to the Granada islets on Nicaragua Lake to cruise through hundreds
    of tropical islands formed by eruption of the Mombacho Volcano 20,000 years ago
  • Tour to the Masaya Volcano driving on a paved road along rocks of petrified lava
    to the top of volcano to observe the enormous Santiago crater.
  • Lunch at El Filete
  • Shopping to the artisan's market in Masaya city with its beautiful hammocks,
    ceramics, carved wood works, embroidery dresses, and tapestries.
  • Visit to Catarina town to observe an ancient volcanic lagoon
  • Transfer back to Costa Rica
  • Drop off at Papagayo or Tamarindo Hotel.
