The combination of a former Quaker colony and the most accessible and developed cloud forest in Costa Rica has featured this area into a major tourist destination.
Vegetation is abundant and lush. The 2500 plant species include 300 species of orchids, 200 types of ferns among others. It shelters a vast variety of mammals, reptiles and butterflies. It is worth to mention the wealth of birds such as the mystic Resplendent Quetzal, the three wattled Bellbird and over 40 species of hummingbirds.
